Why Juvelook Is Changing How We Treat the Eye and Mouth Area

Juvelook around the eyes and mouth

The eye and mouth area have always been some of the most difficult parts of the face to treat well.

The skin is thin.

It moves constantly.

Fine lines can become very noticeable.

And many of the injectable treatments we use elsewhere on the face are simply not suitable for these delicate areas.

That is why I am so interested in Juvelook.

For me, it fills a genuine gap in aesthetic treatment.

Why are these areas so difficult?

When patients come to see me about ageing around the eyes, they are often not asking for more volume.

They are noticing:

  • Fine lines

  • Crepey skin

  • Thinning skin

  • Reduced firmness

  • A tired appearance

  • Changes in skin quality

The same is often true around the mouth.

Some patients are bothered by fine vertical lines or skin that has become thinner and less resilient, but they do not necessarily want lip filler.

That is where treatment becomes more challenging.

We may want to improve the quality of the skin without making the area look filled or changing the natural features of the face.

Until relatively recently, our options for doing that have been limited.

Where Sculptra fits, and where it doesn’t

Sculptra has been one of the most established biostimulators in aesthetic medicine for many years.

I use it regularly and it remains one of my favourite treatments.

It is excellent when I am thinking about broader facial ageing, including:

  • Volume loss

  • Reduced facial support

  • Skin laxity

  • Flattening of the midface

  • Larger areas of the face where collagen stimulation is needed

But Sculptra is not designed for the delicate periocular area.

That has always left a gap.

What do we use when a patient has lovely facial structure, does not need filler under the eyes, but is developing thin, crepey, finely lined skin?

This is where Juvelook becomes very interesting.

What is Juvelook?

Juvelook is a Korean-developed hybrid biostimulator.

Juvelook at Solura Skin Clinic

It combines:

PDLLA, or poly-D,L-lactic acid, which stimulates collagen production with non-crosslinked hyaluronic acid, which supports hydration.

The aim is not simply to add volume.

The aim is to improve the quality, firmness and resilience of the skin over time.

This makes Juvelook particularly useful for more delicate areas where we are trying to improve skin quality rather than change facial shape.

Why I am particularly excited about Juvelook around the eyes

The eye area is one of the first places many of us notice signs of ageing.

The skin becomes thinner.

Fine lines become more visible.

The area can start to look more crepey and less firm.

Traditional filler is not always the answer.

Juvelook for under eye treatment

In fact, for some patients, adding volume under the eyes may not be appropriate at all.

Juvelook gives us another option.

When I am treating somebody whose main concern is fine lines, crepey skin and loss of firmness around the eyes, I can now think about stimulating collagen directly within that delicate skin rather than trying to fill the area.

That is the part I find particularly exciting.

The treatment is not about creating an obvious change.

It is about gradually improving the quality and support of the skin.

And the mouth area has the same problem

The skin around the mouth can also become difficult to treat as we age.

Some patients do lose lip volume and may benefit from carefully placed dermal filler.

But others have perfectly adequate lip volume and are mainly bothered by:

  • Fine vertical lines

  • Crepey skin

  • Reduced firmness

  • Changes in texture

Those patients do not necessarily need bigger lips.

They need better skin.

Juvelook gives me a way of targeting the skin around the mouth without automatically adding volume to the lips themselves.

For me, that is another very useful treatment gap that Juvelook helps to fill.

Juvelook for smokers lines

Is Juvelook better than polynucleotides?

For me, in many cases, yes.

I have used polynucleotides and I still think they can be a useful regenerative treatment.

But when the main concern is:

  • Fine lines

  • Crepey under-eye skin

  • Loss of firmness

  • Thinning skin

  • Early periocular ageing

I find Juvelook more compelling because of the direct collagen-stimulating action of PDLLA.

Polynucleotides work differently.

They still have a place in regenerative treatment, but when collagen stimulation is one of my main priorities, Juvelook is increasingly the treatment I am more interested in.

That does not mean every patient should have Juvelook.

It means I now have another option that I think is particularly well suited to the type of ageing I often see around the eyes and mouth.

There are not yet high-quality head-to-head studies proving that Juvelook is universally better than polynucleotides, so this is my clinical opinion rather than a claim of proven superiority.

Juvelook is not brand new

Although Juvelook is relatively new to the UK, it has been used in South Korea for several years.

It was developed by Korean manufacturer VAIM and launched there before becoming available more widely.

That was important to me.

I do not particularly like adopting a treatment the moment it appears on the UK market.

Aesthetic medicine is full of new products, and I prefer to watch them carefully.

I want to see:

What results are being achieved?

How are experienced clinicians using the product?

Does it genuinely add something to the treatments I already offer?

Does it make sense for my patients?

Juvelook became officially available in the UK through FILLMED in 2025.

I deliberately waited.

I wanted to see how it performed in the European market, how clinicians were using it and whether the results continued to look promising.

They have.

And that is why I now feel comfortable bringing it into Solura.

What does the research show?

The evidence is still emerging and I think it is important to be honest about that.

We need more large, high-quality studies.

But the early data is encouraging.

Published studies looking at Juvelook in the under-eye area have reported improvements in things such as:

  • Skin elasticity

  • Hydration

  • Overall skin quality

  • Radiance

  • Tear trough appearance

These studies are relatively small, so I do not view Juvelook as a miracle treatment.

But when I combine the emerging evidence with its established use in Korea, the results being seen in Europe and the collagen-stimulating mechanism of PDLLA, I think it is a very interesting addition to regenerative aesthetic medicine.

Juvelook vs Sculptra

I do not see these treatments as competitors.

I see them as different tools.

I think of Sculptra when I am treating:

  • Broader facial ageing

  • Volume loss

  • Reduced support

  • Skin laxity

  • Larger treatment areas

I think of Juvelook when I am treating:

  • Fine lines

  • Crepey skin

  • Periocular ageing

  • Perioral ageing

  • Superficial skin quality

  • Delicate treatment areas

Some patients may even benefit from both as part of a longer-term regenerative treatment plan.

Why Juvelook fits Solura

Solura Skin Clinic

The direction I want Solura to continue moving in is very clear.

I am increasingly interested in:

Regenerative aesthetics

Collagen stimulation

Skin quality

Natural-looking results

Long-term treatment planning

Juvelook fits perfectly within that approach.

It is not about changing somebody’s face.

It is not about adding unnecessary volume.

And it is not about trying to remove every line.

It gives me another way of treating two areas that have traditionally been difficult to manage well.

The skin around the eyes.

And the skin around the mouth.

That is why I think Juvelook is going to become a really useful part of my clinic.
